A ROMANTIC WEDDING IN SIFNOS
It is impossible for a photographer to refuse an invitation to capture a Greek island wedding.
The colours and symmetries of the islands combined with the big-hearted generosity of the locals create an inspiring atmosphere unlike any other.
THE COUPLE FROM THESSALONIKI
When Evdokia asked me to photograph her and George’s wedding on the romantic Cycladic island of Sifnos, I knew immediately that this was going to be a spectacular day and, indeed, so it was. The bride got prepared for her big day at Psaharopoulou, a beautiful neoclassical building in Artemonas, which set the stage for the idyllic day to come. The bride was accompanied to the chapel by her father and a number of local musicians playing instruments. It’s an island tradition playing traditional music during brides preparation.
LAZAROU BEACH VENUE
The couple exchanged vows at The Church of Seven Martyrs within the Kastro of Sifnos. It is located on a magnificent rocky hilltop with views of white-washed village houses. The breath-taking ceremony location was most definitely matched by the reception venue, as well as Evdokia and George’s grand entrance. A big surprise and delight of their guests, the couple arrived at Lazarou Beach in Platys Gialos via sea. Hand-in-hand on an all-white fishing boat! They enjoyed dinner on a wooden-deck. That was artfully arranged to be reminiscent of a traditional taverna with light bulbs on strings romantically lighting up the area. The fireworks released into night sky topped off what can only be described as a perfect day!FEEL HAPPY
I had a pleasure to be part of in my capacity as a wedding photographer. While organising a destination wedding from far away is no small feat, Evdokia and George succeeded in creating an experience that will not be forgotten anytime soon and that I was glad to contribute all my help and guidance to.
